Monday’s Match of the Week: Terere vs. Schembri

This week’s featured match is between arguably the two most influential people in aggressive modern BJJ, Nino “Elvis” Schembri (Gracie Barra) vs. Fernando Terere(Alliance). This classic confrontation happened at the 2000 World Championships in Barra da Tijuca Tennis Clube… the original site of the Mundials. I wonder if IBJJF will ever bring the Mundials back to that original location.

This Monday’s Match, features Fernando Terere vs Fabricio Werdum in the finals of the Super Heavyweight Division at the 2004 IBJJF worlds. Terere, who typically competes at Medio/Middleweight division decided to shock everyone and enter the much heavier Super Heavyweight division.
