Now that you have been exposed to some attacks from the mount, this month we are going to focus on escaping the position. The mount is one of the most common positions in both sport Jiu Jitsu and MMA; however is can be one of the most difficult positions to escape from if you have poor technique.
In the first video from Robert Lovi, he demonstrates one of the proper ways of escaping the mounted position. His attention to details on things such as how to point your toes to capture your opponent’s foot and where to pinch your opponent’s leg with your knees is impeccable.
The second clip from Burton Richardson is the crap that is out there on you tube that will hurt your game. I don’t want to be a naysayer, but while technically your opponent will abandon the mount position; however at the same time, your opponent will clock choke the living day lights out of you! I think “Charuto” was messing with Richardson or Richardson is messing us. HAHAHAH!
If Richardson would like to show me the efficacy of this move, he can find me at Serra Jiu Jitsu. I’m open minded and I am willing to learn from anyone or anything if it helps improve my game.
