Beast from the BTT Rousimar “Toquinho” Palhares will not be disputing the under 88kg category at ADCC 2009. Team leader Murilo Bustamante spoke of the decision to the Blog and announced it to the event’s organizers some weeks ago.

Toquinho is recovering from surgery to his tibia, which he fractured in training during the month of May, while the Brazilian prepared to face Alessio Sakara in the UFC.

Toquinho has a fight scheduled at the UFC in December and the doctor following his case has not yet released the Brazilian to train hard yet. “He would show up improperly trained and would further run the risk of injuring himself again. That is why we decided he should not dispute the ADCC,” reported Murilo.

In Toquinho’s place the organization today announced American James Brasco will enter. The category is now complete with 16 participants.
